By accessing or using The Read, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
You must be at least 18 years old to use The Read. By using the app, you confirm that you are 18 or older and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
THE READ IS NOT THERAPY.
The Read is an entertainment application designed for self-reflection, personal insight, and relationship awareness. It is NOT a substitute for professional mental health services, therapy, counseling, or medical advice.
The Read does not diagnose mental health conditions. No content, feature, result, or insight provided by The Read should be interpreted as a clinical diagnosis, psychological assessment, or medical opinion.
The Read provides entertainment, insight, and self-reflection tools only. Our pattern analysis, compatibility scores, verdicts, flags, and all other results are generated through AI and algorithmic analysis for entertainment and personal reflection purposes.
If you are experiencing mental health concerns, relationship abuse, or emotional distress, please seek help from a qualified mental health professional, counselor, or appropriate crisis service.
You assume full responsibility for how you interpret and use any results, insights, scores, verdicts, or information provided by The Read.

All content, features, and functionality of The Read are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the app without our written permission.
THE READ IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.
We do not warrant that: (a) the app will meet your requirements; (b) the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; (c) the results obtained from use of the app will be accurate, reliable, or suitable for any purpose; (d) any errors in the app will be corrected.
We make no representations or warranties regarding the psychological validity, accuracy, or usefulness of any insights, scores, or results provided by the app.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE READ, ITS AFFILIATES, DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH:
(a) Your use or inability to use the app; (b) Any conduct or content of any third party on the app; (c) Any content obtained from the app; (d) Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content; (e) Any decisions, actions, or inactions you take based on app content or results; (f) Any emotional distress, relationship changes, or personal consequences resulting from use of the app.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. IT AFFECTS YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING YOUR RIGHT TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN COURT.
Agreement to Arbitrate: You and The Read agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the use of the app (collectively, "Disputes") will be resolved exclusively through final and binding arbitration, rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if your claims qualify.
Arbitration Rules: The arbitration will be conducted by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules and Procedures, or by another mutually agreed arbitration provider. The arbitration shall be conducted in the English language and shall take place in the State of Delaware, or at another mutually agreed location. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction.
Class Action Waiver: YOU AND THE READ AGREE THAT EACH MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN YOUR OR ITS INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS, COLLECTIVE, OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. Unless both you and The Read agree otherwise, the arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person's claims and may not otherwise preside over any form of a representative or class proceeding.
Opt-Out: You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice of your decision to opt out to admin@thereadgame.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms. Your notice must include your name, mailing address, and a clear statement that you want to opt out of this arbitration agreement.
Exceptions: This arbitration agreement does not preclude you from bringing issues to the attention of federal, state, or local agencies. Such agencies can, if the law allows, seek relief against us on your behalf. Additionally, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court for infringement or misuse of intellectual property rights.
These Terms and your use of The Read shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
For any disputes not subject to arbitration, you agree to submit to the exclusive personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Wilmington, Delaware, and waive any objection to the laying of venue in such courts.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. Upon termination, your right to use the app will immediately cease.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that these Terms will otherwise remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and The Read regarding your use of the app and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
